Caring For Your Synthetic Wig
Proper care ensures longevity and appearance. We provide guidance on washing, conditioning, styling, and storage — and offer professional maintenance support when needed.
-
In case of daily use : wash it every 4-6 weeks
In case of occasional use: wash it every 10 weeks.
How often you should be washing your wigs depends on how frequently you wear them. If you wear a wig daily, washing it twice a month is sufficient to ensure hair remains bouncy and fresh-looking for as long as possible. But if you only wear a wig once in a while, a once-a-month wash will suffice. Never wash wigs more than twice in any given month, or you can risk damaging the unit and shortening its lifespan. Treat it as if it is your natural hair, washing too frequently will cause damage, it will also make the hairs become dry and brittle. The same concept applies to overuse of heated styling tools.
-
First, comb your wig using a wide- toothed comb. With extreme care, comb piece by piece from the ends of the hair to the root (cap), avoiding pulling the knots on the cap and the hair.
-
The water temperature must only be cold to tepid (NEVER HOT). Using a tap only (not shower head), place your wig underneath the flow of water, making sure the cap and the hair gets completely soaked.
Using professional hair care sulphate free shampoo, lather up a small amount of shampoo with your hands and gentle stroke / massage (no circular movements) into the inside of the cap. Paying extra attention to the lace front.
Leave your wig to the side for 2-3 minutes on a towel.
-
Rinse the hair again thoroughly by running cold to tepid water from the roots to the tip until you are sure that there is no conditioner residue left. Please do not make any circular movements here either. Once rinsed thoroughly, gently squeeze out the water from the hair with your hand (never the cap) from the roots to the tips.
-
Work in an approximately hazelnut-sized amount of a professional hair care conditioner in lengths and tips. Gently run your hands through the hair to distribute the conditioner evenly. Never apply conditioner directly to the scalp area/silk top or to any part of the silk top. If your cap construction has any lace part, you need to be extra careful and gentle in order not to damage or stretch it. Leave the conditioner in for a few minutes / hours or overnight depending on the condition of the hair.
PRO TIPS: To get more volume, use less conditioner. If your wig needs more moisture or care, you can also apply a little more conditioner.
Use an intensive conditioning treatment at least once a month, especially the blonde colours and highlighted hair.
The sun will lighten / oxidise and dry out the hair over a period of time so your wig will require some extra hydration.

Please do not make any circular movements here either. Once rinsed thoroughly, gently squeeze out the water from the hair with your hand (never the cap) from the roots to the tips.
-
Turn back your wig from being inside out. Gently wrap your wig in a towel and gently squeeze out the excess water from the roots to the tips (do not rub!). Gently comb the hair with a wide toothed comb. Pull the parting where you want it, taking extreme care with the lace front.
If you have time, it is best to let your wig dry naturally overnight placed on an open wig stand. However if you need to blow dry, firstly, dry out the inside of your wig with the hairdryer on a medium heat at 20cm distance from nozzle to cap. Once the cap is dry attach your wig to a mannequin head with the help of several small pins (please not too close to the edge or lace front), making sure that your wig is tight and wrinkle free.
If there is any medical grade silicone within the cap , never use direct heat on it!
PRO TIPS: Never place your wet wig on a solid mannequin head (especially if it is the incorrect head size for your wig) this can cause the wig cap to stretch.
-
It is advised not to style your wig too often as the heat will dry out the hair over time. Using any heated appliances ALWAYS a professional heat protector spray. The recommended temperature setting on any appliance should be NO more than 150 to avoid damaging the hair. Styling products can be used, however, they can make the hair sticky or hard and create a build up of product on the hair. So less is more!
-
Always store your wig on an open head stand or mannequin head or in a silk bag. Never leave it sitting in direct sunlight.
